It's called the The Weird One Character Domain Superstore.... what did you
expect? We sell weird one character domains.
Why does this exist?
Once the province solely of the rich and powerful, we're democratizing
one character domain names. Nobody said it'd be pretty.
Did you want to mention a conspiracy you made up?
It's a well known fact that the intranet of the ultra-elite Democratic
National Committee uses hieroglyphic dotcom names to avoid public
scrutiny. MS-13, the World's Most Dangerous
Gang, has its own pirated version of JIRA which uses ancient Aztec storyboards.
A growing number of people all over the world use non-ASCII characters
to communicate, building a new Tower of Babel.
If you sell one character domains, why is your domain name so long?
It's like rain on your wedding day.
It's a free ride when you've already paid.
It's the good advice that you just didn't take.
Who would've thought, it figures.
You can access us at
if you're into that whole brevity thing.
Otherwise, keep visiting WeirdOneCharacterDomainSuperstore.com.
We're cool with whichever, really.
One character search field? Really?
We thought we were really clever when we thought of that.
Where do the listings of single character domain names come from?
Artificial intelligence enabled robots. Our sophisticated unicode discovery
use blockchain enabled
machine learning to provision containerized solutions within the context
of the public cloud. We then use a durable message bus to inject
our findings into big data, creating a graph database of unique identifiers.
Finally, the results are delivered to the client
via the latest in standards compliant TCP transport
technology from our custom cluster of machines running a significantly
more performant variant of node js.
All the Auction and Aftermarket listings come from GoDaddy.
I want to sell by one character domain name... how do I list it?
The WeirdOneCharacterDomainSuperstore is always listening. Publish your domain in the
GoDaddy Aftermarket, we'll spider it up in a day or so.
Your domains are fulfilled by GoDaddy. Is this a GoDaddy project?
Nah man... we're Domain Research Group. We're, like, our own thing.
Are these domains compatible with all browsers?
For the most part, yeah... sure. They'll almost certainly display as
punycode in the address bar, though.
What kind of guarantee do you offer?
None of this is a good idea. Buyer beware! Domain Research Group offers no guarantees explicit or otherwise on domains purchased through
The Weird One Character Domain Superstore.
In general, our experience is
that domains work just fine within the GoDaddy system... and, of course, if
you have any issues, we'll try and help you out. Hit us up on twitter: @emoji_domains
What is punycode?
Behind the scenes, all domains are ASCII text, even if you see the domain name
displayed as an emoji.
The actual mechanics aren't that important,
but the key thing to know is that the browser uses a strategy called
"punycoding" to convert "❤️" to "xn--qei" behind the scenes.
Does that mean these "Weird One Character Domain Names" aren't really a single weird character?
🤯 It's complicated. These domains are both a single chacter AND multiple characters. And you don't want
to even explore that some characters, like emoji, are sometimes themselves a joined collection of multiple characters.
What can I do with one of these weird one character domain names?
Anything you'd do with a "regular" domain. A lot of people use 'em as url
shortners. If you purchase your domain through GoDaddy, you can
use their free url forwarding
